While most people seem to love the "all chrome" models, there's a lot to be said for the real La Pavoni brass bases and copper boilers. (Like no rust, for starters.) Whether you think this is a bit of an "ugly duckling" or "full of character and patina," it's a fully rebuilt and serviced La Pavoni Professional Pre-Millennium, with new gaskets, seals, descaled, lubed and adjusted.
Pavoni sold these with a clear coat (designed to keep the brass "shiney") that peels over time, while eventually still letting the brass "tarnish" underneath. That makes "deciding which way to go" with a restoration on one of these more difficult than it could have been.
Strip the clear coat off the base and you're still left with the task of trying to "even up" the look of the brass between the light and dark zones through polishing. And polishing has the potential to actually turn out ok, OR result in an even more "uneven" finish than you started with!
So we've elected to "keep it real." The patina will "ship" with this example, since w've left most of the history alone, and concentrated on the mechanics (all done) to make this a rare "affordable" rebuilt Pre-Millennium Professional.
If you've been holding out for the performance and features of a Pro model (over the Europiccola) but been hesitating over the prices they tend to command, here's a chance at a "bargain."
A new custom "bottomless" portafilter, and both single and double baskets are included.
This should probably go into a little cottage, deep in the woods somewhere. But even if you don't live in the woods, it will be awesome fun having this in your kitchen.
